I would say they are both insecure aswell, but Barrymore is on another level to her, understandibly so with everything he has been through.
But i just see a cry for help from Jodie more then anything, everything she does seems to be mirrored around the fact that she is the victim and she is the foe instead of looking at the bigger picture and taking the situation head on instead of hiding away and shying away from what is being asked from her.
