I don't think we can put all the blame on teachers (though they bear the brunt of it).I cannot understand parents who do not seem to care that their children are uneducated, ill mannered, self-centred shallow morons, so long as they can earn as much money doing the least amount of work.
Sadly the mantra "something for nothing" is embraced by the young, and they feel a sense of entitlement and"rights" with no corresponding responsibilities. If parents don't teach their kids morals and social responsibility teachers are up against a brick wall.
Seems one of the drawbacks of growing old is to be labelled "an old fart" for believing society would be better if we treated each other as we would wish to be treated. I'm appalled that girls like Sophie are admired and looked up to for all the wrong reasons, and I also feel sorry for her because she has been brought up to believe her true worth lies solely in how she looks, so that she neglects to develop her own character, personality, or other intrinsinc talents she may have.
