It can be argued that Marcus is exploiting the public to a certain extent but in a capitalistic society isn't that something to be pursued? I don't see anything different to what he's doing than many companies or persons do when they want to reap the maximum returns possible on any event or product, the product this time being Marcus who'll inevitably have a short life span in the public realm anyway and he might as well get some extra cash while he's around.
One thing though: did he earn anything off Big Brother for the three months he spent in that house and while there's people out there who'll pay, shouldn't he be allowed to make a little while he can? I mean if you're willing to point a finger at him and his code of ethics I think there's bigger fish to fry in today's society. I think we should cut him some slack here. [/rquote]
I think they get 30 quid a day and he was in there for like 90 days so he probably got 2700 quid when he left the house.
If you think about it... it's not that bad is it. You get board, food - it's fairly boring but 2700 quid for 90 days
Well 210 pound a week and bills and such are paid for...[/rquote]david beckham gets £100,000+ for 90minutes on a football pitch your point is? they are both entertainers you pay to watch or you dont its up to you! is david beckham entitled to more money than marcus akin when both of them are in the public eye? when someone is famous thats what happens people pay good money for them they become a brand, its the perks of the job of being famous eg they can sell thing for a higher price than what you or i can it all to do with marketing DB might wear adidas boots, adidas will give DB £5 million a year they think he is worth it is DB exploiting adidas?[/rquote]
Horses for courses but if you do the maths - David Beckham is far more value for money in terms of market return as he entertains billions around the world.
Marcus entertains 20 people on DS.[/rquote]well there you go then a few K for a toy key and a signed letter that some of his 23,000 fans on twitter asked him for is a small price to pay! the same as DB gets millions for entertaining the masses around the world good for him! the world still turns its not exploitation.
marcus was asked and is still being asked to put things on ebay so that his fans can bid on.
have you ever bought a DVD or CD? or a poster? millions around the world do every day some or all that money goes to the performer of the film, cd or poster marcus is a performer if he was not do you think he could sell a toy key or a pice of paper for 1,000s if he was just some bloke off the street? he spent 13 weeks with millions whatching him he entertained people like him or hate him he is doing nothing wrong or different to any other famous person making money from his fame
please look up the definition exploiting

[/rquote]
You seem to ignore what is being said.
Others, film makers, artists, actors - actually give something worth the product. You get the film and you pay for about 1000 people who made the film? Yes - do you comprehend that or do you just like to make innacurate sweeping statements?
Marcus, yes - is selling a pile of junk, something that is worth about a pound... for over 1000 pounds. People are buying it because they think Marcus is special and like some cult guru. They have applied a glittering, fake, glamorous persona on him.
You, laughably, compare him to David Beckham who is one of the greatest footballers to have ever adorned this planet. David Beckham (as you so ridiculously state "there you go") entertains billions around the world. Regularly... he is a market driven brand.
Marcus... is selling one object to one person only. Only one person can gain this product. Yes? Do you understand?
The exploitation is - it is worth nothing. It isn't worth the entertainment value that David Beckham or Film makers give. Is that understandable... yes?
Let me paint a better picture. Like exploiting child labour. Basically, a child in slave labour makes about 20 quid a month for something sold for far more? OK? Marcus is doing the same... he is exploiting something that is fashioned from Lisa, Sree - because he fancied Noirin... people admire him because they hate somebody else.
He swears... wow... but that's not the reason. It is a amplified view of somebody he is not. He lost at arm wrestling against Tom. He is not strong - he got beaten at that as well... He is not what he seems. The basis is if you have a brain, if you can understand this - he is not what he seems. It is a fabrication that you have to be "exploited" operative word, exploited - to buy into the illusion - you have to be delusional to buy into it.
You just shout, scream, post badly written posts with bad spelling and talk about exploitation like you really have a hold on to it.
Do you know actual artists give away stuff to fans all the time. They send letters to fans all the time. Do you know how much they do it for? They do it for free.
Do you understand the exploitation now?
Here is the definition, personally, for you.
verb
1. To put into action or use: actuate, apply, employ, exercise, implement, practice, use, utilize. Idioms: avail oneself of, bring into play, bring to bear, make use of, put into practice, put to use. See used/unused.
2. To take advantage of unfairly: abuse, impose, presume, use. See treat well/treat badly/treat.
3. To control to one's own advantage by artful or indirect means: maneuver, manipulate, play. See control/uncontrol, straight/bent.
He is manipulateing. He is abusing the position that somebody else has given to him. Do you understand that? Is that comprehensible to you?
I doubt it. You're so far up his arse... I doubt there is any possibility you can tell right from wrong.
