It was originally about social commentary against comercialism and such and how the public can be easily manipulated into frenzies (look at the Daily Mirror). They're stupid because a mob mentality is stupid.
Most modern films don't bother with that anymore and that's why most recent films have zombies run and generally be more clever-er.[/rquote]
