These days they are very careful what they do under sectioning someone.
They do want you to have therapy or medication but also, the human rights law is in favour of all living breathing individuals - so even if 2 Doctors say "yeah, let's give him/her this that and the other", if you have some debilitating circumstance because of it, you have room to complain and sue.
So in the large part they do try and help but they are also very careful and would rather have you in hospital for monitoring rather than out on the streets.
