Yes he's desperate to be famous, but I think he is pretty genuinely smitten by Katie, not sure the feeling is mutual though. If Pete said he'd have her back tomorrow, she'd be gone like a shot. Alex seems like a nice guy underneath all that false bravado and swagger, and he can laugh at himself which is refreshing! Best thing for him would be get away from that silly cow and go his own way, he'd do much better for himself on his own I think.
