X Factor's Maria signs record deal
Maria Lawson, the 'X Factor' favourite who was evicted from the show, has signed a record deal.
30-year-old Lawson and Irish act the Conway Sisters lost out on the public vote in November, but the Conway Sisters were saved from eviction by judge Louis Walsh, who had the casting vote.
The London-born singer has signed a deal with Sony BMG subsidiary Phonogenic and has started to write her debut album, which will be released in September.
Commenting on the album, Lawson said: "All I promise is great songs, some with elements of pop, some with elements of soft rock, and some with elements of soul."
