As for the offensive remark by the poster two posts above this one, this is not a case of the government being over accommmodating. It is actually the oposite as it is a government body, the MOD who is objecting to a planning application.

Quite right. Whether they build the mosque or not makes no difference. London is an inchoate smorgasboard of architectural clashes anyway. It seems even city folk can be small-minded.
