Weird. I was searching on google about this and the following story came up under his name, although there is no reference to him in it.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating a shooting in Liverpool.
A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital in the early hours after being shot in the arm in Aigburth.
Merseyside Police believe the incident happened in the Riversdale Road area and are carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
The suspect, from Allerton, has been taken to an undisclosed police station for questioning.
Detectives believe the man was shot at about 0200 GMT on Sunday and are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
They are appealing to anyone who may have information to come forward."

It was posted on Sunday. Venables is now 27. Most probably not related but for some reason it popped up under one of the latest news stories under Jon Venables. Strange.
