Its considered a breach of discipline for people on the same ship to have relationships, causes resentment because sailor A is biffing sailor(female) B, while sailor C's girlfriend is elsewhere, etc.
Over the 3 months, tempers can become frayed enough as it is with people working, eating, sleeping etc in the same confines. Add in the possibility of a break up between A and B and the development of another relationship between either party and someone else.
That was the why women weren't allowed on submarines when they were allowed on normal ships. At least on ships you have resupply helicopters and supply vessels where one or the other party could be removed from the ship.
At last people in the Navy are coming in to the 20th century(yes I know we are in the 21st but them give another few years to catch up).
