Let's forget about Mikey and his personality for a moment, if we can. It could have been Camilla or any other HM in the role, although Mikey has been excellent in the role (although he's proved to be a perfect SOB otherwise).
The fact remains that this Insider task has gone on far too long. On launch night I'm sure the vast majority assumed the Insider would be stealing toothbrushes and doing other pranks for a limited time. Instead, it's become the "Insider" show with camera time absolutely dominated by the Insider.
There's very little entertainment value in giving an already glory-chasing HM delicious meals to eat when the Insider has little or no guilt over the task.
The 'get nominated' task is an interesting one but ironic in that the Insider chosen probably could get 8 votes strictly on his own merit (or lack thereof). If he in fact gets nominated then he's safe (using odd BB logic) and guaranteed to say for another week or so.
Then what? Assuming the Insider is revealed we will get a minimum of another solid week of 'Insider: the aftermath' as all the HMs react to the plot. If the Insider is NOT revealed then we have to assume that BB will come up with another task...meaning the Insider stays for at least another week anyway. All of it adds up to almost all other aspects of the house, the HMs and the group tasks being shoved into the background.
Finally, BB took the easy way out by not having the Insider attempt to sabotage the water tank task. Yes, it may have been obvious but having the Insider sprung by a HM or two who finally woke up to the fact would have been a lot more dramatic than another 'sit on the lounge and all will be revealed' session (although I'm sure the producers want the revelations to be in the live daily show timeframe). Even if the Insider role was not discovered there still would have been massive anger at the Insider and the 8 nominations goal would have been a walkover.
