Third Amercan Idol contestant disqualified over shady past
Producers of American Idol have been forced to disqualify a finalist who has been charged with assault against his sister.
Corey Clark, who was one of the nine remaining finalists, is facing trial over an incident at his family home last October.
He is the third contestant to be ejected from the show this year because of a chequered past.
Last month, US network Fox disqualified 23-year-old Frenchie Davis from the show amid revelations that she had posed topless on an Internet porn site.
And semi-finalist Jaered Andrews was kicked off the programme after it came to light that he had been arrested on an assault charge in connection with a bar fight in Pennsylvania that ended with a man's death.
A fourth contestant, finalist Lashundra Cobbins, was arrested on a theft charge in Tennessee in 1999 but has since been cleared and was allowed to stay on the show.
Fox has yet to make a decision on whether Clark will be replaced on the show.
