Seeing as they're playing up to the "death" of the show, the eye could represent a 'decayed' look with the eye design peeled back and tarnished in some places to reveal the bare electronics beneath... with the red pupil signifying that "evil BB" is still there.
IDK I just thought it was a cool idea! :P

I like the sound of this, a cool grunge eye. I think it would need some green as previous BB eyes have lacked green.
