I think hugging is good but constant hugging in bed is not. It gets boring and has all been done before. They think it hides them away from the public vote on the sense that more than a kiss might happen but the public are very aware of it now. Hugging friends is a good boost when someone is down but getting all hugged up in bed is just a gameplan and making sure they have atleast won over one persons vote.
