My cousin was in France for the World Cup in 98 and joined in the "celebrations" when Scotland were put out. He said there was a procession of drunk Scots with bagpipes, drums walking all the way down the Champs Elysees singing everything from "Doe a Deer" to "The Back of the Bus is in the Huff" He said it was an amazing night.
Unfortunately he was in the vicinity when England rioted and he said it was horrific.. There were families with children and old people being dragged into it and the only way the police could stop it was to turn the water cannons on them..
I'm not saying there isn't a small portion of Scotland fans who like a scrap but The Tartan Army as a whole are welcomed worldwide in a way which the English simply are not

I'm not into football, but that is incredibly embarrassing. I think it may have something to do with football being the sole outlet, for many people, for any repressed jingoistic feelings.
