It makes perfect sense, it's losing them a **** load of money. People need to realise higher ratings doesn't always mean a show is more profitable.
The amount Channel4 paid for the show means it probably needs about 3-4m on overnights to break even, perhaps even more.
That's why they're making the show longer and squeezing in another adbreak.
it doesn't matter that all their other shows get fewer viewers, none of their other shows cost something stupid like £70m a year to make so they need fewer viewers to become profitable.
