That is exactly what Big Brother is, it is a popularity contest. You have to avoid being unpopular with your house mates to stop you being put up for the public vote. Then the public vote according to whom they dislike or like the most, sounds like popularity is very much involved.
Grace is coming in for so much flack because she is causing trouble and then denying it even to her friends like Imogen. Grace caused the entire event between Lea and Sam and then stood back watching the fireworks, denying she had anything to do with it. When I saw Sam talking to Imogen and Lisa that night I knew it was a mistake and would bite him in the ass.
Grace’s continued attacks on Aisleyne and Sam are because she sees them as an easy target. Grace is playing the game, but in past Big Brothers game players are unpopular and don’t win. So she needs to take responsibility for playing the game that way.
