I agree with Peter, Dave isnt on the dole.
Dave draws a wage from the coffers of the cult he created.
I guess sitting around 'drunk' watching TV, with maybe a bit of talking to 'drunk' friends in the evening, with regular extended holidays to other cults around the world at their expense, isnt a bad life.
