It's very fake, JJ has nothing left to say and does not want to be around anyone in the house so he's latching onto josie, basically he wants the cheque but does not want to be in the house anymore. To be honest i don't blame him.

JJ mum said something like, "if you upset her then i'll slap him" which obviously means that's what she's thinking will happen.
