I think it's maternal in the sense that it might help her get over the fact that she's not with her son.
I think Pete looks up to her as his mother-figure, but it does get a bit uncomfortable when she goes on talking about his... assets... which shows she is clearly attracted to him, for whatever reason, but I think and hope for all the housemates' sakes that she doesn't take things any further!
