Firstly because you said:

And then you intimate that the comment was made BECAUSE of Steves disability, the inferance is a far bigger insult to Steve than calling him a Lech!
I'm certain that Steve would consider (as most of us do) that he is a man capable of doing and/or being anything an able bodied man can, warts and all'
