There is a 'reason' for panic attacks. (which are not 'attacks' in any sense) but that reason is, in itself, 'irrational' or maybe we can say 'for no good reason'.

there is most definitely 'reasons' why it got there.

Look at it this way - if a smoke alarm is going off at the slightest waft of cooked sausage there is a 'reason'.
True, it ought not go off.
There was no fire and so you can say it went off for 'no good reason' but there are reasons why it was going off.
