Well actually younger people have a more "disposable" income as they genrally do not have do spend their money on items such as rent, morgages, kids e.t.c x They are free to "waste" money on items that are enjoyable or higher quality life products x
This is why the majority of the media is aimed at that particular age range. Now i'm not saying that anyone out of that range can't watch it . It's just who it is aimed at. There are millions of people who watch Big brother and i can assure you that the majority of that audience is made up of 16 - 34 year olds. And they are going to want to attract more of this age range and one of the ideas that they have had to insure this is not to place over 40's into the house as the majority of the "younger" age groups are not interested in watching people that are not of their generation and who they can't relate to.
