I know it's really bad timing. All I can put it down to is like you said transfers. They were ready to offload Milner at a price that O'Neill wasn't happy with and was told he wouldn't have much of that to replace him.
Strange that the transfer of James Milner has got rid of two high profile managers - Keegan and O'Neill.
Good luck to Villa next season anyway. Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise.
