Yak not worth more than £2m
West Ham chairman David Sullivan says he won’t offer more than £2m for Yakubu, although figures for previous bids for the Nigerian striker coming from West Ham have been quoted at much higher recently…
The Hammers’ chairman says that Everton want £8m for the striker, but that the Londoners want to pay no more than £2m.
“We have cooled on Yakubu,” said Sullivan. “When you have a good hard look at him, we want younger and quicker and better.
“Everything has a price. You want to get Yakubu for £1-2 million and they are quoting £8 million and that is far too much.
“They have to be more realistic. If they said £1-2m we might go back. We bid more at the start of the summer because we had more flexibility but, at this moment in time, having spent some of our money on other players we want him for £1-2m.”
The Yak joined Everton for £11.25m two years ago and scored more than 20 goals in his first season on Merseyside.
They are seriously taking the piss now!
