Kaz - you are of course right about it being Mel. It's all coming back now. Another one of my friends was a big Wet, Wet, Wet fan, who were the big rivals of the day. I remember the spats and mutual hatred of the other's object of affection.

I have to confess, even though I wound my friend up about it all the time, I didn't think Bros were that bad. They were a high profile band that lots of girls fancied, so were given a hard time. It was a shame, because their later work was really good, but they couldn't shake off the "When Will I Be Famous" teeny image.
