She said she had no recollection of meeting him - doesn't necessarily mean she hasn't! She could have met him at some bash somewhere on a very casual basis - and it was quickly wiped from her mind!
Don't know about you - but I know I have certainly been in situations were someone claims to know me that I can't recall - only to have it finally dawn on me months later - that I had met them before, after all!
