Foxes are an apex predator with an abundance of food. If not controlled the population would explode, prey species would be wiped out, UK wildlife would be massively affected and then foxes would eventually die out.
The only thing keeping the balance is people controlling the population not decimating it.

I'm sure to a lot of people it is and I am well aware of the many acts that farmers have to abide by telling them to clear their land of what are termed as vermin. Personally I am against it all I don't eat meat and I don't kill anything - that's just me I'm afraid and people who hunt these animals for fun and sport make me feel ill. I know it happens but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I'm sure if all wildlife was left alone a natural balance would prevail without man jumping in to do his act of god bit.
