The word 'real' was in quotations for a reason, but you are obviously struggling. You obviously completely missed what I was saying.
Santa's modern colours and look were invented by the cartoonist Thomas Nast, but really popularised by the Coke company in the 20s.
Lets not even start talking about it being celebrated on a day according to pagan beliefs, mainly because no one has a real clue about when Jesus was actually born and it was easier to dump it onto an existing holiday during the conversion of the West.
I am not saying it dosent have value or isnt fun, but the whole concept of 'Christmas' is a pretty abstract one.
