Big Brother and 'reality programs' in general are now well into the kind of genre of the 'game show' or the chat programs and by this I mean they will come and go in waves of popularity, decline, renewal, revised versions, cycles,
but,
will always be a sort of recurring cycle again.
Big Brother is in this sort of 'genre' to itself that may very well go out of style for 3 or 5 or 10 years but will return again at some time.
Think about this - variety shows were massive for about a decade and then were seen as tacky, camp, cheap for maybe a decade only to return again and once again go out of favour,
but,
here we are in the 2000's where X-Factors, BGT are massive variety acts/talent shows all over again the highest rated things.
So BB may very well disappear for a few seasons. Variety acts will become passe again and eventually BB will be the 'new things' all over again.
But for now its time to say good-bye. I hope C5 does get it and retools something entirely different.
It may even be something more 'serious', low-key and dare I say 'sophisticated'?
It may actually be a 'small program' to start.
It might even be something that most people on this forum won't even like but a different sort of demo will.
Dunno.
But yeah, I hope they do get it, wait a while, return with something special.
Not too soon though.
