No, perhaps you should read the question again. The OP is asking which event had you glued to the TV the most. Nobody compared the Chilean Mining accident to 9/11, the question is what had you glued to the TV the most. As I was only 10 when 9/11 happened, I wasn't sat in front of the TV watching every minute of it, yes it was catastrophic, there's no denying that, but I watched more of the Chilean Miners coverage, therefore the one which had me glued to the TV the most was that one.

If the OP had asked what was the most devastating, the most upsetting, the most horrific, then yes, 9/11 would be answer, but that wasn't the question.
