Having read cursorily through this thread, as a fully heterosexual female, my overhwhelming emotion is that I'm glad I'm old. I'm glad I was jumping around my nearest festival ground when Suzi Quatro and Debbie Harry were challenged only by the sultry temptation that was Chrissie Hynde. Three women who epitomised what style was - to buck all trends and vomit upon all comercialisation; to wear what the ******* you wanted, immerse yourself in rock'n'roll and own your physicality and sexuality. When I was growing up, Madonna was embarrassingly conformist. I really wish the Katie and Cher fans would arm themselves with just a smidgen of context before they start to spout drivel. These are oft seen phenomena, the Katie's and Cher's of this world.
