Yeah and all politicians and lawyers always tell the truth.
It also gives the US time to scour both their laws and ours and put together a case for the UK to extradite him directly to the US over Sweden, we do have an expedited extradition treaty with the US, which they will probably use to claim him.
The US UK Treaty is very one sided in their favour and allows them to apply for extradition to the US for crimes against US Law even though they were committed elsewhere, and the level of proof for them to apply is significantly lower than we would need to apply for them to extradite someone in the US to us.
They have a minimum of just under a week to sort something out either with us or the Swedes. He isnt going anywhere which will please the Yanks as they were panicking that he may skip to a country without an extradition treaty with them should they decide to prosecute.
