Cheryl (as in adult cheryl) is still something of the same comparison/unfair comparison.
Simon is the actual owner/operator and is internationally famous and almost all of these big programs sort of 'premise' on Simon and his 'brutal honesty' thing.
Cheryl could get caught selling heroin and disappear tomorrow and it wouldn't hurt X-Factor, BGT, American Idol or whatever happens next.
Here again, Simon's fall is very very bad for the programs. Simon becoming insincere is a massive loss for X-Factor but also for BGT and AGT and American Idol and (whatever 60 of these things he runs).
Sorry, I know a lot of Brits don't know this but Simon is a massive and famous celeb/money maker worldwide.
He couldn't walk through a corn field in Kansas without being mobbed by locals.
Cheryl could walk down Hollywood Boulevard with a sign saying "IM CHERYL COLE" and, at best, 2 British tourists would recognize her.
Likewise:
Cheryl seen insincerely praising contestants = nothing surprising.
however,
Simon seen insincerely praising contestants = nearly the death of the entire singing contest genre today.
