If the Police have lost the respect of the public, blame the interference of politicians, the PC brigade and the ridiculous demands of the Human Rights legislation which is heavily geared towards the rights of perpertrators of crime rather than their victims. Commonsense has gone out of the window these days as the Police faff around like bluearsed flies trying to uphold the law without upsetting the various communities and ethnic groups.
When did Policing change from an Institution designed to protect us all against the bad guys, to an Institution too frightened to upset the bad guys in case of public censure and cynical compensation cases?
Respect the Police? Maybe not wholeheartedly any longer because of the encroachment of political ideology into the way the Institution is run, but do I admire those who choose to do such a difficult and thankless job? Hell yes, they deserve our support. After all, what else stands between the bad guys and the rest of us?
