Oh yeah and TVD Books follow a different story to the Series, they have already said that they are not going along with events in the books
I've seen the Damon/Stefan stuff before though, Buffy and Angel covered that pretty well with it's scenes about Angel, Spike, Darla and Priscilla. The problem with VD is that it's ultimately deriative of everything that came before. It wouldn't exist as a TV show if it wasn't for the likes of Buffy & Twilight as it borrows liberally from both sources.

You can't think TB's characters are boring and then champion VD when all the characters can be traced to other sources. True Blood instantly changed things up by making vampires known to the world in it's canon which is a lot more interesting then another tired 'I'm a tortured vampire that wants to be human so I live among them in secret'. Bill's a tortured vampire character in True Blood yes, but he's ultimately more interesting and diverse then Stefan.

Eric is better then Damon ultimately, Damon's Spike from Buffy without the accent.
