I see your argument, my idea however is rather than build extensively (some new builds will be made) I plan to use the already existing infrastructure. Instead of these properties being mainly owned and occupied by British holiday makers who live in the south east, and infrequently used throughout the year, I want the existing properties to be used by western europeans mainly. Either through rent or ownership. The idea is that this will pool in alot of external money into this area, rather than money that comes from internal sources.

Increasing fees for overseas students too much may reduce the amount of overseas students willing to pay.
I see your arguments, but I suppose a equal amount will have to be made - slightly more than the existing costs, but not to an extent that it is non profitable.

Increasing tariffs on non EU imports will break certain trade agreements and you have nothing to stop the countries involved reciprocating by imposing tariffs on our exports. Thereby further reducing what little exports we already have to those areas.

Also increased tariffs will have a knock on effect to the consumer, items from those places will be more expensive as will components imported from those areas we use in production of our own consumables.

Why regionalise the various sectors? Does it mean universities in Scotland, the North and South of England etc will be disadvantaged etc?

Quite like the energy propositions unfortunately I dont think people who follow the NIMBY trend will just lie down and not fight any development they dont like, think middle class trendies becoming tree hugging protestors.
I understand the flaws in this ideology, and again research will have to be carried out on how this will be carried out, ensuring strong foreign relations and trade agreements remain, that do benefit us.

I also see your arguments amount an increased cost to the consumer - and the fact with that is going to be 'tough'. The idea is that we manufacture products that aren't 100% neccesary for survival, such as televisions, cars and furniture. Again, the idea behind this is that the manufacturing is mainly for consumption in England, and less emphasis on exports abroad. This way it should invest more into our economy without overly impacting the global system.

The idea behind regionalising the sectors is to create, as I said 'Areas of Excellence' that hopefully will improve the future of Britain, leading in core areas of certain industry. Funding for state run universities will still exist, however, the idea behind a few specialised, no governmental run Universities is that general Universities will have to up their standars of simply fail.

And I can see the environmental opposistion, unfortunately I suppose it is a real life challenge that ruins ideas on paper.
