My take...

People can call it a failure BECAUSE of her success everywhere else in the world; it charted at #3 in the UK, so in comparison to places where it went to #1, it flopped. The UK has quite a large, popular music scene (lots of British artists are popular around the world) so IMO it is a bit of a failure for Lady GaGa to only chart at #3 when she managed #1 in so many other places. A music video being released weeks after the song is not going to get it to #1. All it will do is improve its chart life - similarly to Britney Spears' new song, the only reason for releasing a video later, is because she knows the song isn't good enough to sustain popularity and momentum for very long. The reason for that is simple, it's an anthem aimed at a minority market, and not aimed at the masses, which in all honesty is what pop music should be about - capitalising on popularity. She's not going to do that by writing second rate gay anthems with cringe worthy lyrics and a throwback to the '80s beat. I've heard the song twice and I don't hate it, I just don't like it either, I just find it a bit embarrassing to listen to and I suspect that's the opinion of a lot of other people too.
