I had a dear friend called Maureen who hailed from Cork, where my grandmother was born, and I always celebrated St Patrick's Day with her - a double celebration because 17th March was also her birthday. I still miss her a lot but I have many happy memories of the day and I'll be thinking of her and raising a glass to her and St Patrick on Thursday
