I think if you take a mix of both parties stories your probably get the truth, imogen is attention seeking but at the same time must be hurt. I think both sides of the stories have been excentuated and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
E.G.
Imogen was wrong for dating a married man but still she 'loved' him so we must feel some sympathy.
