Many people with the onsets of mild to moderate Dementia DO realise they have big problems, they worry constantly that they are burdens on people and get worked up by that.
I know that because I help out with a Dementia care charitable organisation.
They function in some ways but are anxious all the time that they are burdening people, they also believe wrongly that they are a pain to others, I get that all the time from those I visit, that they feel they are a big nuisance to me.

Clearly anyone with serious and greatly advanced Dementia would not be aware of that though as Claymores said.

In light of Dementia,if I had that high Dementia condition coming on then no I would not want to live to be 100 and end up completely dependant on others.
