Channel 4 thought 'Oh yeah, this is brilliant - let's push our luck abit and bring back over rated BB3 'legend' Jade Goody that should get people talking.' in CBB5.
They do, Jade comes in thinking she is somebody - I personally don't think she was racist, and I do despise her but you know what Indians and Ofcom are like.
Ratings drop for BB8 the series after CBB5, Channel 4 got scared and decided to leave out CBB6 in 2008.
BB9 - Great series, no one watched because Channel 4 put in no effort for BB8.
BB10 - They could not wait to announce they were getting rid of it by this stage.
Point is Big Brother always has and always will [unless C5 ruin it] have a massive fan base.
Just look how many hardcore fans there is on these forums, and other forums - and how much of an impact it had on the Media and that.
Big Brother 'dieing' had nothing to do with Big Brother itself loosing fans, it was down to Channel 4 getting so cock sure and throwing that fat ***** Jade back into the house, who then ruined the show - Jade Goody killed Big Brother.
After that Channel 4 clearly regretted ever signing a contract in 2006 and were itching to get rid of the show by giving it all they could - to make sure Big Brother went downhill.
So yes - of course it wasn't 'ground breaking' hardly anything is these days.
Name me one thing that stays 'ground breaking' after the first series?
Big Brother lost it's 'This is so new let's watch' impact in the early years.
But it was always TV Gold - it's just Channel 4 did a good job ensuring it wasn't.

LOL, ever heard of don't speak ill of the dead? Although I do agree to some extent...
What I mean is, even if Big Brother was still getting 6+million views in series 11 (Which I doubt highly it would of) I still think Channel 4 were right not to recomission. It wasn't good for the channels reputation what with all the z-list housemates saturating the 'celebrity world', I think to carry on it needed to move on to Channel5, Living or ITV2.
