Depends where you go. In my experience, schools can be really rough and in need of desperate repairs; transport can be dilapidated and unreliable - on the other hand both can be in really good working order, just depends where you are. I don't see the problem with her moaning about it; she works just like everybody else and it's pretty savage that she has to give half her earnings away in tax - I am aware that money goes into welfare, I study this at uni
I was just raising the point that a lot of people do not appreciate having to pay huge levels of tax when they do not see a physical return on their investment in the state. She also says that she doesn't use public transport due to being widely recognised, there's no mention of a nice private car though I'd assume that to be the case - I think you're being a little bit presumptuous about her as a person based on your views on taxation and it's fickle to say you've been put off her music because of these throwaway remarks. It's a fact of life that you have to pay tax, it's just annoying for those who earn lots that they only get to keep half of it, people will complain and nothing will change, it's as simple as that.
