You are right,they are not malicious and they are also a lot friendlier and more approachable to their fans than so many other so called great and big stars in all areas of showbusiness are rhino.
Some people though decided from the outset they didn't get them or like them so run them down because they are proving them totally wrong by going on from strength to strength.
