Restaurant review of Colleys Supper Rooms - there are several of them around and a brilliant one in Bristol. I've also been to the Reading one where I handed a plate of tomato salad to a certain Mr Clarke's mum

The best thing about the restaurant is that there is no actual menu.

There are usually 7 courses in the evening.

1st - a visit to an 'horses douvres' (as we call it) table
2nd - normally soup
3rd - fish course
4th - sorbet
5th - main course
6th - cheese and biscuits
7th - deserts
plus coffee.

the best thing is that each course is brought to you to see i.e for the main course you see a choice of four or five dishes as they will be served to you and when the deserts come round the waiters/waitresses parade about 12 different deserts for you to choose from and you can have as many as you want

Everyone arrives at about 7 and they say carriages for 12 - yes you are eating for all that time. They have a lovely atmosphere and great to go in a group.

The whole lot costs about £20 a head and afterwards you definitely need to go on a diet.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED IF YOU COME ACROSS ONE.
