Another thing people forget as well now is that Britain is the most CCTV country in the world and the police have all sorts of tactics to take down thugs. Thus crimes are spotted and reported more making it appear as though there
are more.
Today's Daily Mail article in the 70's would have been a good old fashioned scruff up you and the lads would take care of yourself.
