I don't find them gross at all. They are young lads having fun in a photo shoot and getting paid for it. How many males would get away with wearing a mankini without it looking weird, it is meant to look that way surely, they know it and know the photo will be ridiculed, but hey, they get the last laugh as they are the ones paid for that photo
