Actually, I just checked(never had to do it before). You dont get your password sent to you. You get emailed a reset link.
Yes, this would affect your login on the desktop because you HAVE to change your password when you click on the reset link. But to solve this, just remember the password, and log in again on the desktop, while clicking the 'remember me' button
