Bowie was an innovator in the music industry he broadened peoples views on sexuality and lifestyle. He was the master of reinvention years before Madonna was ever heard of and the master of performance and showmanship before Ga Ga was born. Everyone is free to like him or not but to say he was an overhyped pop idol is like saying The Beatles were a one hit wonder
