Default Have the males in the last few years really been that weak?

Between 2000-2007, it was mostly males winning, and this made sense as more females voted and watched the show. Between the 7 years there (incl celeb series), there were 10 male winners and 4 female winners (incl Nadia of course).

Then from 2008 until now there have been 4 female winners 1 male winner (Alex Reid), as he broke the tradition of 4 female winning all in a row (Rachel, Sophie, Ulrika, Sophie and Josie).

Now, is this because the demographic of voters and viewers have changed? Or is it because in the last few years, females have been stringer characters, more entertaining and better quality than males?
